Setup
My services show "placeholder" prices. decavet seeds a starter catalog with placeholder prices. Replace them with your real prices in Settings → Service catalog. The dashboard reminder clears once they're set. See Service catalog.
Appointment times look wrong. Check your practice time zone in Settings → Practice settings. decavet shows times in your practice's zone. See Practice profile.
Tax isn't appearing on invoices. Make sure you've added a tax rate, the items are marked taxable, and the client isn't set as tax-exempt.
Scheduling & visits
I need to see several horses at one barn — one appointment or several? One appointment (the trip) with several visits (one per horse). See Appointments vs visits.
Can I edit a visit after marking it complete? Yes — you can keep adjusting services and notes until the work is invoiced. See Conduct a visit.
Billing & payments
How do I mark an invoice paid? You don't set it by hand. Record a payment and apply it; the invoice's paid state updates automatically.
A client overpaid — where did the extra go? It's held as account credit and can be applied to a future invoice. See Apply payments & refunds.
One horse is owned by several people. How do I bill them? Use split billing — per client, or proportionally for a syndicate.
I made a mistake on a sent invoice. Add a correcting adjustment, or void the invoice and issue a new one. Don't delete payment history — use a refund to reverse money.
Contacts & patients
A couple owns the horse together — two contacts? No. Add the second person as a name on the same contact. See Households.
Why are Stallion/Mare/Gelding shown instead of male/female? For horses, decavet uses the equine sex terms automatically. See Add a patient.
Access
I can't find a settings page or an action. Some areas need an Admin role. Check with your practice admin, or see Roles & permissions.
Reports
Where are reports? Practice reports and analytics are coming soon. The Reports area is a placeholder for now.
