Organize your services and inventory into groups, and set default tax behavior.

Categories group your services and inventory so long lists stay organized — on invoices, in the catalog, and in the service picker. They can also set a default for whether items are taxable.

Prerequisites: Admin or appropriate permission.

What categories do

  • Group related services and inventory (Exams, Vaccines, Surgery, Supplies, Travel).
  • Keep visits and invoices tidy — services are listed by category, then by name.
  • Provide a default taxable setting that items in the category inherit.

Manage categories

  1. Go to Settings → Categories.
  2. Add a category, rename one, or arrange them (categories can have parent/child groupings).
  3. Set the default tax behavior for the category if relevant.
  4. Save.

Tip: A small, clear set of categories beats a long one. Aim for the handful of groups your clients would recognize on an invoice.
