Patient alerts

Flag important facts — allergies, handling notes, due vaccinations — so they're impossible to miss.

An alert is a flag that appears prominently on a patient's record so the whole team sees it every time they open the animal — an allergy, a handling warning, or a reminder that something is due.

Prerequisites: the patient exists. Alert labels are managed under Settings → Patient alerts.

How alerts work

Your practice defines a set of reusable alert labels once (for example, "Severe allergy", "Difficult to handle", "Vaccination due"). You then attach the relevant ones to individual patients.

Steps

  1. Open the patient from Patients.
  2. Find the alerts section on the detail page.
  3. Click to add an alert and choose one of your practice's alert labels.
  4. Click Save.

To manage the available labels, go to Settings → Patient alerts.

You'll know it worked when…

The alert shows on the patient's record where the team can't miss it.

Tip: Keep alerts for things that change how you handle or treat the animal. Too many alerts and people stop noticing them.
